I was asked to do some cookies for not a baby shower, but an adoption shower. Two sweet littles were being adopted into a super loving family. I was asked to do pink and blue hearts–BOOOOORING! I asked how old the children were and suggested we could do something a little better than that. I had made “Thank You” cookies for the Treat Seeker before in which the words were spelled with alphabet cookies. So we decided to go with that again and she said to put a heart with it and then she said to do what I wanted–DING! DING! DING! DING! I love when I get to choose the theme and color!!!!
I was in a vintage mood so I researched vintage trucks and hot air balloons. I love researching!!! I had a blast making these cookies for the shower. I hope they loved eating them as much as I loved making them.
The cookie dough was my favorite dark chocolate recipe. I wanted to add raspberry icing but I realize that not everyone is a fan of raspberry so it’s just vanilla. I’ve only started liking raspberry in the last year or so muhself.
I learned a technique or two while working on these cookies as well. I’ve done basket weave on cookies before but not this small. It took quite a bit of time to get that weave pattern close enough for government work! All in all I was pretty pleased with it. You can’t quite see the sheen of the balloon in this picture, but there is a light silver sheen that adds to the softness of the set.
